PHP's Touchstone program is an ongoing group designed to provide families of children with complex or life threatening illness with opportunities to: share their experiences and feelings with peers who understand the challenges of raising a child with complex health issues, learn about local resources and events of interest, enhance their coping skills, learn how to participate as equal partners in the medical and educational decision-making necessary, and advocate for compassionate, quality care, give and receive peer support. Meetings are held the 1st Wednesday of each month from 7-8:30pm at PHP 3041 Olcott St. Santa Clara, CA 95054. Upcoming meetings are scheduled for March 5, April 2, May 7, and June 4,2008. Please check the calendar for speaker information. Discussion topics may include: *Understanding your child’s needs, fears, and behaviors *Dealing with uncertainty, emotions and grief * Maintaining strength in the family * Sorting through treatment options * Getting support and being a support *Taking care of yourself
